I love that she captured the way this skin color hits the light and has many different dimensions. I also love that the head wrap is also a big part of the photo. We have more American versions of these such as the durag or bonet. Both things I've been made fun of by Western culture for wearing as it's depicted as “not classy” or “ghetto” I think that the “Atlas of beauty” had a deeper meaning wether she had the intention or not to de centralize western and Asian beauty standards which coincidentally align with eurocentric ideologies and whiteness as “inherently beautiful”.    Michala Noroc is a Romanian photographer who is most known for her “Atlas of beauty” where she, for ...

My Thoughts on It’s What I Do by Lynsey Addario

My Thoughts on It’s What I Do by Lynsey Addario One part of Lynsey Addario’s book that really hit me was when she sneaks around in Afghanistan photographing women under Taliban rule . That was super intense, because she’s risking her safety just to show what these women’s lives are like lives that are usually invisible to most of the world. I loved that moment because it shows not just her guts, but how much she cares. She isn’t there for the “wow” war photos she’s there to tell real human stories. Her style as a photographer is definitely different from what I expected. Instead of going for giant explosions or dramatic battle scenes, she does these really personal, soft moments. Like when she photographs families in Darfur or mothers in Afghanistan , she focuses on their hands, their eyes, the little gestures — not just the big chaos. She uses natural light, not big flash, so her photos feel real and intimate. It’s like she’s letting the story speak through small details instead...

The next three are meals I've eaten or put together within the last week this was after the veterans day parade I went to Margins to eat and edit my photos this is a "salmon stacker" which consists of cured salmon, capers, cream cheese, shallots and tomato. I also had a Carmel latte. (alwyas with an extra shot.) What truly is a hardshell taco if not just a folded tostada? This is the question sweeping the nation.  I LOVE ENOKI MUSHROOMS!!!!!

My mother Francine Uriarte who spoils her chickens absolutely rotten. I photographed her specifically for these photos because of how much work she puts into her chickens.  Her feeding the chickens they're greens first and then moving towards the bird seed.  Right before we give them food and collected eggs. You can see the greens which is apart of they're meal but they also get what's called a "slurry" which consists of yogurt, water, oatmeal and whatever else she has on hand. She also makes them a dry mixture of bird feed and meal worms.

Photo story: Portland,Oregon protests

Image
Nov.6 8:47 pm An up-close photo of ICE agents' faces outside the Portland, Oregon, U.S immigration and customs enforcement building in downtown Portland. This is an unusual occurrence, as the agents go to great lengths to cover their faces, but this was a fairly small protest of maybe 20–35 people. When a protester mentioned, “You guys are very brave to show your full face when we are hunting you.” Oct.18 4:31 pm  This was also the day of the second No Kings Protest toward the ending of the night. A photo of a man among the rubble and tear gas with a full face respirator. All “black bloc" is a guerrilla warfare tactic being utilized in Portland; the concept is that it is harder to pick you out of the crowd if the crowd is all wearing black. In the background, you can see a different person in "black bloc" with a helmet on and a medical red and white badge displayed on the helmet. This group of people came together in full black bloc and made announcements over megaph...

My hometown Albany Oregon

The "talking water gardens" on the outskirts of Albany Oregon one of my favorite hiking spots. I uncovered a little miniature pond that a small rabbit led me over to to which I took many pictures of however I think this is the best one. The rabbit hopped too quickly for me to get any good pictures but I think even this is just beautiful.  June 19. 25 The Albany Oregon veterans parade in downtown Albany Oregon. I believe this is either Corvallis or Albany junior league cheer. They were so sweet and Soo very exited to have they're pictures taken. Many cheerleaders that day I would say these lovely ladies were the most exited and cheerful.  Nov. 11.25 Another one of my favorite shots from the veterans parade. A little girl standing with a flag watching the floats go by. She was personally SO exited for this, from screaming her lungs out to pretending to guide traffic she was ALL for it, knee deep if you will haha.  Nov.11.25
