Book Report: Lynsey Addario It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War

Book Report: It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War  By Ashlie Slocum Introduction Photojournalism is often described as a profession that blends artistic vision with public responsibility, but few memoirs reveal this balance as clearly as Lynsey Addario’s It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War . Through her accounts of conflict, displacement, loss, and resilience, Addario not only documents world events but also reflects on what it means to dedicate one’s life to bearing witness. Her memoir provides valuable insight into the ethical and emotional complexities of photographing human suffering, and it challenges readers to consider the sacrifices required to pursue truth through images. This report examines the anecdotes, technical choices, and philosophical commitments that shape Addario’s work, and reflects on how her story informed my own practice in photojournalism this term. The next three are meals I've eaten or put together within the last week this was after the veterans day parade I went to Margins to eat and edit my photos this is a "salmon stacker" which consists of cured salmon, capers, cream cheese, shallots and tomato. I also had a Carmel latte. (alwyas with an extra shot.) What truly is a hardshell taco if not just a folded tostada? This is the question sweeping the nation.  I LOVE ENOKI MUSHROOMS!!!!!

My mother's chickens on November 15th.  Hiding from me because they're camera shy.  Right before we give them food and collected eggs. You can see the greens which is apart of they're meal but they also get what's called a "slurry" which consists of yogurt, water, oatmeal and whatever else she has on hand. She also makes them a dry mixture of bird feed and meal worms.  My beautiful mother who spoils her chickens absolutely rotten.

My hometown Albany Oregon

The "talking water gardens" on the outskirts of Albany Oregon one of my favorite hiking spots. I uncovered a little miniature pond that a small rabbit led me over to to which I took many pictures of however I think this is the best one. The rabbit hopped too quickly for me to get any good pictures but I think even this is just beautiful.  June 19. 25 The Albany Oregon veterans parade in downtown Albany Oregon. I believe this is either Corvallis or Albany junior league cheer. They were so sweet and Soo very exited to have they're pictures taken. Many cheerleaders that day I would say these lovely ladies were the most exited and cheerful.  Nov. 11.25 Another one of my favorite shots from the veterans parade. A little girl standing with a flag watching the floats go by. She was personally SO exited for this, from screaming her lungs out to pretending to guide traffic she was ALL for it, knee deep if you will haha.  Nov.11.25

Veterans parade pt2 (clearer photos available blogger blurs them slightly)
